The questioner : Regarding the question... this topic from the beginning of the session... regarding
or visits a kahin , he has disbelieved in what has been sent down to Muhammad
Mishkat al-Masabih 551
.

The Shaykh : ... .

The questioner : Is this authentic?

The Shaykh : He believed him.

The questioner : He believed him.

The Shaykh : Yes, he went to him and believed him, yes, it is authentic.

The questioner : And does this disbelief mean that there is no intercession after it?

The Shaykh : This, my brother, is a fixed distinction: disbelief that is not disbelief. He explained it as either doctrinal disbelief or practical disbelief. So, the one who goes to the diviner and believes what he says, if he believes that the diviner can know the unseen, then he is an apostate from his religion. Because what is the meaning of the Prophet's words
then he has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 135Hasan (Darussalam)
Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah قل لا يعلم من في السماوات والأرض الغيب إلا الله
[An-Naml 27:65]
What was revealed to Muhammad
And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me.
[Al-A'raf 7:188]
What was revealed to Muhammad?
(26) [He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone (27) Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before each messenger and behind him observers
[Al-Jinn 72:26-27]
So, does the one who goes to the fortune-teller believe that this fortune-teller is a messenger chosen by Allah, so that he goes to him and asks about the hidden things, and when he informs him, he believes him? This distinction must be kept in mind. If he goes to the fortune-teller believing that he can know the unseen, then he has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, because it was said to him
and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone (27) Except whom He has approved of messengers
[Al-Jinn 72:26-27]
And if he does not hold this belief, but holds the correct doctrine and believes that there is no knowledge of the unseen, but he experiments sometimes and they hit the mark, sometimes like this, and so on, so he believes him in some details while he is held back by the previous faith, then his disbelief is practical, not doctrinal. Is this clear?

The questioner : Yes.
