How to reconcile evidence when it appears to conflict.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In such a case, one must reconcile the texts, as is known from the rules of the principles of jurisprudence and the principles of hadith. Al-Hafiz al-Iraqi (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in his commentary on *Mukhtasar Ibn al-Salah*, in the section on conflicting hadiths, that if two hadiths appear to contradict each other, it is obligatory to reconcile them by one of the many methods of reconciliation, which number more than a hundred. This is a very important matter; otherwise, the student of knowledge will be left in confusion.
For example, we read the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood حرّمت عليكم الميتة والدّم
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
If we stop at this verse and do not take into account what the hadiths brought regarding the permissibility of eating sea carrion and locusts, we would forbid eating them, because the Qur'anic text includes them:
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood حرّمت عليكم الميتة والدّم
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
