Explanation of the prohibition against kneeling in prayer like a camel, placing the knees first.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Let us give a few examples of this. The majority of people, when they prostrate, prostrate on their knees; that is, the first part of their bodies to touch the ground is the knees, then the hands. This is contrary to the action of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and contrary to his command as well, because he said:
When one of you prostrates
Naturally, this is not specific to men; "one of you, O Muslims," includes both women and men.
when one of you prostrates himself he must not kneel in the manner of camel, but should put down his hands before his knees.
Sunan Abi Dawud 840Sahih (Al-Albani)
People today place their knees before their hands. Do these people apply this part of this hadith:
and offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
No, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as Abdullah ibn 'Umar ibn al-Khattab says:
When he prostrated, he placed his hands before his knees.
This is the prayer of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). He did not suffice with that; rather, he commanded it explicitly with his words, saying:
When one of you prostrates, let him not place his knees before his hands.
Why do people not do this, when they know from "Sahih al-Bukhari" and "Sahih Muslim" his previous statement:
and offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
Why do they not do it out of spite for the Sunnah? May Allah be far from that! Because it is inconceivable that a Muslim would intentionally oppose the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) out of spite for the Messenger; otherwise, that would be disbelief. Therefore, He (Glorified and Exalted is He) said:
And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers - We will give him what he has taken and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination.
[An-Nisa 4:115]
So it is inconceivable that a Muslim who knows the Sunnah and knows the command of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to place the hands before the knees during prostration would then contradict what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited. This is inconceivable except in one case, which is his ignorance of this Sunnah. And this is the reality of the matter: the majority of worshippers today, when they kneel like a camel, placing their knees before their hands, do so only because of their ignorance of the practical and verbal Sunnah of the Messenger (may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him). His action was that when he prostrated, he placed his hands before his knees. His command was:
When one of you prostrates, let him not place his knees before his hands, but rather let him place his hands before his knees.
Naturally, because if a Muslim knows such as His saying (Mighty and Majestic):
And establish the prayer.
It is inconceivable that a Muslim would be ignorant of this command. Then, if we know such a hadith, that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says:
offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
and this Muslim does not care to know how he should pray, he is undoubtedly accountable. This is the opposite of issues that arise for a person where he does something and wonders, "Is this permissible or not?" It does not occur to him that this is forbidden, so he asks. But prayer, which he repeats many times a day, and he knows that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commanded the establishment of prayer, meaning the perfection of prayer, and the Messenger affirms this, saying:
offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
and yet he does not care about it and does not pay any attention to it, he is undoubtedly responsible and accountable for this negligence.
