Mention of the issue: If a Muslim kills a dhimmi (a non-Muslim under Muslim protection) by mistake, is the blood money for this dhimmi the same as that of a Muslim, or is it half of the Muslim's blood money?

The Shaykh : Similarly, if a Muslim kills a dhimmi (a non-Muslim under Muslim protection) by mistake, is the blood money for this dhimmi the same as that of a Muslim, or is it half of the Muslim's blood money? In this issue, there are two schools of thought. The Hanafi school holds that the blood money for a dhimmi is the same as that of a Muslim, while the Shafi'i school and others hold that the blood money for a dhimmi is half of the Muslim's blood money. This is the correct position, as the hadith from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is established:
That the blood money for a dhimmi (a non-Muslim under Muslim protection) was half of the Muslim's blood money during the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). أن الدية كانت في عهد الرسول - عليه الصلاة والسلام - للذمي على النصف من دية المسلم
This is what is established in the Sunnah. This is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
