It is not hidden from you, may Allah preserve you, what women face in this country and other Muslim countries: campaigns to drive them out of their homes and strip them of their modesty.

The questioner : He says: Your Eminence. It is not hidden from you, may Allah preserve you, what women face in this country and other Muslim countries: campaigns to drive them out of their homes and strip them of their modesty and decency. And one who observes the condition of women in this country recently finds a great transformation from what it used to be, for laxity regarding the hijab and playing with its forms has begun, amidst the competition of the people of the markets. They have flooded the markets with a huge quantity of clothes and abayas that encourage the girl to uncover herself and display her adornment. Also, the appearance of women with their beautiful colors and hair in newspapers, magazines, and on television has begun, under the name of purposeful art, or the brilliant or skilled presenter, and so on, which chokes the chest of every one who is zealous for the religion. Your Eminence. What is the role of the students of knowledge and the guardians who fell short in guiding women and allowed the media to enter, which helped in driving women out of their modesty and decency? We ask for your guidance, Your Eminence. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : The reality is that this calamity—as the brother the questioner said—has spread through the countries like fire in dry kindling, and it is a sign of danger. For the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who is the most knowledgeable of people regarding what benefits people and what harms them in the religion of Allah the Exalted, said:
I have not left behind me a fitnah more harmful to men than women, and indeed the fitnah of the Children of Israel was in women. ما تركت بعدي فتنة أضر على الرجال من النساء، وإنما كانت فتنة بني إسرائيل في النساء
. And with great regret, this exists under the sight and hearing of the guardians. But the man goes to his shop or his work and leaves his family; he does nothing about what happens to them. He does nothing about it. The matter is cold with these people. But, by Allah, it is a sign of danger. Then these fashions that have flooded the markets and corrupted the markets and corrupted the women are all harm to our economies. You find the employed woman spends half her salary on these fashions. Even if the new fashion is in a worse state than the first, it is new. The woman buys a dress for one hundred riyals, or two hundred riyals, or five hundred riyals, or six hundred riyals, a dress, ah, Adam, as if you have an opinion.

The questioner : A lot.

The Shaykh : More than five hundred riyals?

The questioner : Three thousand.

The Shaykh : Three thousand? That doesn't happen, it is impossible... Three thousand, what do you say in Adam's opinion? He says the women's clothes, one is ten thousand? Huh? Is his speech correct? More... .

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : White clothes for five hundred? It must be. You have tailors who sew the clothes. One thousand five hundred riyals? Three hours and the dress is finished.
The important thing, my brothers: these fashions that come to the country are harm to our economy and harm to our religion. The woman's mind is always on what? On these fashions and what came today? And what will come tomorrow? So the whole religion is lost because of this clothing, some of which is not permissible by the Shari'ah. Therefore, I advise our believing men to pay attention to this matter, and to know that their enemies are real enemies. Some of them are people who do not care about this matter. They care only about collecting money. And some are people who intend to corrupt the Muslims. We ask Allah to make their plots return to their own throats, and to awaken our guardians to what is good and right, and to prevent their families, their sons, and their daughters from following fashions that are of no benefit.
Up to here ends this meeting, my brothers, in al-Khudra. And also our brothers here in the mosque.

The questioner : Last question, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Is there a question remaining? The question is for you now. The question is for you now.
