Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And similar to this hadith is the following hadith, which also has a sound chain of narration.
From Abu Dharr:
I asked, 'Messenger of Allah, what if a man loves a people but cannot join them?' He replied, 'Abu Dharr, you are with the one you love.' I said, 'I love Allah and His Messenger.' He said, 'Abu Dharr, you are with the one you love.'
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 351
:
In this hadith, there is a virtue in loving for the sake of Allah of another kind. That is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) answered Abu Dharr when he asked him (peace and blessings be upon him), saying:
what if a man loves a people but cannot join them?
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 351
: He is unable to perform their deeds. People are undoubtedly varied in the degree of the deeds they perform to draw near to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). Some are the foremost in good deeds, some are moderate, and some are negligent and wasteful. So Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger this important question: A single man loves a people, meaning the righteous, but he is unable to match their deeds or perform their deeds. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) answered him by saying:
Yes, Abu Dharr, will be with those whom you love.
Sunan Abi Dawud 5126Sahih in chain (Al-Albani)
So Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) wanted to confirm the understanding that comes to the listener of the Messenger's (peace and blessings be upon him) answer when he said:
Anas narrated that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) and said: " O Messenger of Allah! When will the Hour be established?" So the Propher (s.a.w) stood to perform Salat and when he was finished his Salat he said: "Where is the one who asked when the hour will be established?" The man said: "It was I, O Mesenger of Allah!" He said: "What have you prepared for it?" He said: "O Messenger of allah! I have not prepared very much of salat nor fasting for it, but I love Allah and His Messenger." So the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: "A man shall be with whom ever he loves, and you shall be with whomever you love." So after the advent of Islam, I did not see that anything brought the Muslims more happiness than that.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2385Sahih (Darussalam)
Do you think that whoever this beloved is in the high ranks, he will be gathered with him? So Abu Dharr said:
I love Allah and His Messenger.
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 351
: You are saying that the person who is deficient in his deeds will be joined with the one he loves because his deeds are more than those of the lover? I love Allah and His Messenger. Do you think I will be with Allah and His Messenger?!
He said:
Abu Dharr, you are with the one you love.
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 351
Even at this highest rank, after which there is no rank, which is the rank of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and his degree. So whoever loves Allah and loves His Messenger, he will also be gathered with him and joined to him.
