Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Reciter: Chapter: The Many Are the Few. And His saying, the Exalted:
(15) Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments - We fully repay them for their deeds therein, and they therein will not be deprived. (16) Those are the ones for whom there is not in the Hereafter but the Fire. And lost is what they did therein, and worthless is what they used to do.
[Hud 11:15-16]
. Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, saying: Jarir narrated to us from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rafi' from Zayd ibn Wahb from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "I went out one night and found the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) walking alone, with no one with him. I thought he disliked anyone walking with him. So I began walking in the shadow of the moon. He turned and saw me and said:
Who is this?
I said: 'Abu Dharr, may Allah make me a ransom for you.' He said:
He said, "O Abu Dhar, come here!" So I accompanied him for a while and then he said, "The rich are in fact the poor (little rewarded) on the Day of Resurrection except him whom Allah gives wealth which he gives (in charity) to his right, left, front and back, and does good deeds with it. يا أبا ذر تعال قال فمشيت معه ساعةً فقال لي : إن المكثرين هم المقلون يوم القيامة إلا من أعطاه الله خيراً فنفح فيه يمينه وشماله وبين يديه ووراءه وعمل فيه خيراً
Sahih al-Bukhari 6443
So I walked with him for a while, and he said:
Sit down here لي اجلس ها هنا
Sahih al-Bukhari 6443
So he seated me in a hollow surrounded by stones and said to me:
Sit here till I come back to you
Sahih al-Bukhari 6443
Then he went off into the barren land until I could not see him. He stayed away from me for a long time. Then I heard him coming back, saying:
Even if he committed theft, and even if he committed illegal sexual intercourse
Sahih al-Bukhari 7487
When he came, I could not hold back and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, may Allah make me a ransom for you, who was speaking on the side of the barren land? I did not hear anyone returning to you with anything.' He said:
It was Gabriel who appeared to me beside Al-Harra and said, 'Give the good news to your followers that whoever dies without having worshipped anything besides Allah, will enter Paradise.' I said, 'O Gabriel! Even if he had committed theft or committed illegal sexual intercourse?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Even if he has committed theft or committed illegal sexual intercourse?' He said, 'Yes.'
Sahih al-Bukhari 6443
Al-Nadr said: Shu'bah informed us, and Habib ibn Abi Thabit, Al-A'mash, and 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rafi' narrated to us, saying: Zayd ibn Wahb narrated to us this. Abu 'Abd Allah said: The hadith of Abu Salih from Abu al-Darda' is mursal and not valid. We only intended it for recognition. The valid one is the hadith of Abu Dharr. It was said to Abu 'Abd Allah: What about the hadith of 'Ata ibn Yasar from Abu al-Darda'? He said: It is also mursal and not valid. The valid one is the hadith of Abu Dharr. And he said: Strike out this hadith of Abu al-Darda' regarding: "When he dies, he says: La ilaha illa Allah at the time of death."

The Shaykh : This chapter: He says: "Chapter: The Many Are the Few". "The many" means those who have much wealth but do not spend it in the path of Allah. They become the few on the Day of Resurrection because they did not bring forth anything, so they became the few. It is possible for a person to have much wealth, while another has less wealth than him, but the latter is more in deeds and spending. In that case, the second one is the "many" on the Day of Resurrection, and the first one is the "few."
