The Shaykh : Then the author (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated in this chapter another authentic hadith. From Ibn 'Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 245. This hadith also contains noble guidance from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to the believing Muslims who follow him (peace and blessings be upon him) truly. In this hadith, he commanded the Muslim to fulfill the obligation of teaching, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . This is because spreading knowledge is one of the religious obligations that every scholar must fulfill by spreading knowledge among people for the sake of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), seeking no reward or gratitude in return. Therefore, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . However, many people, when they take on or assume the path of teaching people, do not teach them well. They may be severe with them, restrict them, or repel them. Therefore, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded those who take on teaching people to be lenient and easygoing, not severe with them. This is as happened in the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in a story that serves as a lesson for those who take heed. An Arab man, and Arabs are generally prone to ignorance due to their distance from the cities where culture and knowledge are found, stood in the mosque of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), uncovered his garment, and began to urinate in the mosque. When the Companions saw him, they were about to strike him, because he was doing something detestable in the mosque of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Mosques were built for the worship of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and consequently, Muslims are commanded to purify them, even to perfume them. So how could this Arab man do the opposite by urinating in the mosque and defiling the pure mosque? It was very natural for the Companions to be about to strike him. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: . Leave him alone, let him relieve himself, and do not cut off his urine. . That is, do not stop his urination until the man had relieved himself. And the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, in the completion of this advice which he directed to the teachers, not to the ignorant man—though the role of the ignorant man in teaching will come later—but the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) preempted the teachers who were admonishing and were about to strike that ignorant man, and he said to them (peace and blessings be upon him): Jami` at-Tirmidhi 147Sahih (Darussalam).
Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to that Arab man and said to him:. And we find here that the style of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was gentle with both groups, but perhaps it was stricter with the teachers than with that ignorant man, where he said to those who were about to strike him: . As for the one who did the detestable act, he did not command him with anything, but he disciplined him, and he disciplined him well, and he taught him, and he taught him well, and he said to him: . That was all. There he commanded them, and here he presented to him what he should be disciplined with once again. And among the curiosities is that this Arab man who did what he did in the mosque of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) hardly began to pray behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) until he hastened to make a supplication, and he said: . O Allah, have mercy on me and Muhammad, and do not associate with us anyone. Then the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the noble Companions around him: Do you think this man is more misguided than his camel? Then he said to the Arab man, look at his style (peace and blessings be upon him) with the ignorant, with people. He also said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): . He did not do anything else with him, but he said: . That is, you have restricted a vast expanse of the mercy of Allah. It means there is no need for you to limit yourself and your Prophet alone in seeking the mercy of Allah for them, excluding all other people. It is as if he is saying to him: If you supplicate for good, generalize it and do not specify it, because the mercy of Allah encompasses everything. So this contains a practical realization by the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) of this Prophetic command that came in this hadith of Ibn 'Abbas: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 245.
Teach and make things easy and not difficult. When one of you is angry, he should be silent.

These mosques were not built for any of this urine or excrement; they were built for prayer and the remembrance of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
