What is the authenticity of the hadith: “We attended the wedding of Ali and Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with them both), and we did not see a wedding more beautiful than it. We stuffed the bedding, and we were given dates and raisins, which we ate…”

The Shaykh : From Jabir, who said: “We attended the wedding of Ali and Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with them both), and we did not see a wedding more beautiful than it. We stuffed the bedding, and we were given dates and raisins, which we ate. And her bedding on the night of her wedding was the skin of a sheep.” Is this hadith authentic? It does not come to mind right now, and I will review it. It is not strange for their material condition at that time that her bedding was a sheepskin. Today, a slave’s wife has several skins, not just one skin; therefore, things have developed greatly. It is obligatory for us in this time that we not be deceived by this worldly life and its enjoyments, and that we remember the biography of the righteous Salaf, both men and women, and try to follow their example as much as we are able to do so. This is sufficient for now. We have deemed it appropriate, since the time for the 'Asr prayer has passed the previously mentioned time, to begin the lesson at five-thirty. Let this be known to everyone.
