The Shaykh : Then he said in the hadith: Sunan an-Nasa'i 2032Sahih (Darussalam) This is among the rulings that existed at a certain time in the early period of Islam, namely that it is not permissible for the one who offers a sacrifice to store the meat of his sacrificial animal for more than three days only. With these three days, he eats, drinks, and benefits from this sacrifice as he wishes. When the fourth day enters, he must distribute what remains of the sacrifice. This ruling was due to a specific circumstance. It is reported in "Sahih Muslim" from the hadith of the Lady Aisha that she said: The time was the time of the Festival of Sacrifice, so he (peace be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1973 Why? To compel the one who offers a sacrifice to distribute this meat to this group that had arrived. But this group either returned wealthy or settled in Madinah, and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) enriched them from His bounty through the Muslims. So the cause for which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade storing the meat of the sacrificial animals was removed. He pointed to this reality and said (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Muslim 977a Meaning: Store what you wish, but do not forget in any case the right of the poor in the meat of the sacrificial animals. So, in short, storing the meat of the sacrificial animals was forbidden, then the prohibition was lifted and it became permissible. Therefore, it is reported in the authentic hadith that the one who offers a sacrifice, or those who offer sacrifices, when they sacrifice on the day of the festival, are commanded to do three things. He (peace be upon him) said: So there is no objection to the one who offers a sacrifice storing [the meat], but on the condition that he does not be stingy with any of his sacrifice for his family on the days of the festival, and for the poor, especially those among them who are neighbors. This is the meaning of his saying: Sahih Muslim 977a Three, thirty, two months, and so on, "hold onto what you wish to keep."
