Discussion of the scholars' opinions on the follower saying: "Allah hears the one who praises Him" after rising from bowing for the follower.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And the evidence of those who adopted the detailed opinion we mentioned earlier from some of them, which is that the follower does not combine the two phrases, is a narrated hadith in *Sahih Muslim*: in it is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
When the Imam says: ‘Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),’ say: ‘Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (O our Lord, to You is the praise).’ وإذا قال الإمام سمع الله لمن حمده فقولوا ربنا ولك الحمد
Sunan Ibn Majah 876Sahih (Darussalam)
Some scholars thought that this hadith negates the prescription of the follower saying with the imam: "Allah hears the one who praises Him," but this hadith does not mean negating what has been established as prescribed in the other hadiths mentioned earlier, because it is on the same level as his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in some of the authentic hadiths agreed upon by the two Shaykhs:
When the Imam says: 'Ghair-il-Maghdubi `alaihim Walad-Dallin (i.e. not the path of those who earn Your Anger, nor the path of those who went astray (1.7)), then you must say, 'Ameen' وإذا قال الإمام غير المغضوب عليهم ولا الضالين فقولوا آمين
Sahih al-Bukhari 4475
So this hadith does not negate that the follower also says "Ameen," not merely by opinion but by following the evidence. Just as this hadith does not negate the prescription of the follower saying "Ameen," so that hadith does not negate:
When the Imam says: ‘Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him),’ say: ‘Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (O our Lord, to You is the praise).’ وإذا قال الإمام سمع الله لمن حمده فقولوا ربنا ولك الحمد
Sunan Ibn Majah 876Sahih (Darussalam)
