What is the reconciliation between the hadith: (Indeed, Allah folds the heavens and then takes them in His right hand

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The hadith:
Indeed, Allah folds the heavens and then takes them in His right hand, and folds the earths and then takes them in His left hand
was narrated by Muslim through the route of 'Umar ibn Hamzah al-'Amri, and this is weak. So how is it reconciled with the hadith:
Both His hands are right
which is in the two Sahihs?

The Shaykh : It is true that this 'Umar has weakness in him and he is not relied upon alone, but the fact that the Lord of the Worlds is described with two hands, a right and a left, has come in other than this weak hadith. So the reconciliation between this attribute of right and left and His saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
both of the Hands of my Lord are right
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3367Hasan (Darussalam)
is very easy. In fact, this second hadith is an explanation and interpretation of His saying (Blessed and Exalted is He):
There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
In this verse there is negation and affirmation, and the negation was placed before the affirmation so that the Muslim does not fall into likening the Creator to the created. So he placed this preamble of negation and said:
There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
, so he affirmed for His Self (Blessed and Exalted is He) these two attributes, and clarified that it is necessary to exonerate Him (Mighty and Majestic) from resembling the created things, as the scholars say. In this manner came his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
both of the Hands of my Lord are right
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3367Hasan (Darussalam)
meaning: His right and left are not as we humans imagine. His right and left are exonerated from resembling humans. And to confirm this warning, he said:
both of the Hands of my Lord are right
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3367Hasan (Darussalam)
and this is not an attribute of humans. So it is a confirmation of the principle of
There is nothing like unto Him ليس كمثله شيء
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
This is the answer. I do not say there is a contradiction between the hadiths that affirm the right and left, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
both of the Hands of my Lord are right
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3367Hasan (Darussalam)
, but rather he (peace and blessings be upon him) in this phrase exonerates his Lord (Mighty and Majestic) in the attribute of right and left from being as it is known among humans. This is the answer.
