The benefits of the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: “I used to play with dolls in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I had female companions who played with me. When the Messenger

The Shaykh : In summary, the hadith of Aisha indicates two things. The first is the gentleness and mercy of the Messenger (peace be upon him) toward young children. This is an example of the examples we have passed through in previous lessons. From another angle, it indicates the permissibility of young children playing with dolls. However, before I conclude this talk, I want to clarify a matter I alluded to earlier and passed over quickly. It is not permissible for us to take from the hadith of Aisha the permissibility of buying girls' dolls from the markets that come to us from Europe. They are of many shapes and types, some small and some large. Some may be of such size that a small girl can carry a doll larger than herself, yet it is light because all of this is made in Europe, which does not prohibit or permit things. Furthermore, they have their own customs, traditions, and tastes, none of which agree with our Islamic customs, traditions, and tastes at all. I am not in need of explaining this, for perhaps you know more about it than I do. But it is enough for me to mention that recently I visited one of our Salafi brothers, and unfortunately, I found that the little girl had come out, opened the door, and then entered her room. Her father came to receive me, and I sat down. My eyes fell upon a small box in a corner of the house containing one of these forbidden toys, and the girl had covered it. I lifted the cover and found the image, as is usual, to be a picture of a woman with golden hair representing European hair, cut down to the earlobes, and wearing a short dress. I deliberately lifted the dress in front of the man, and there was no clothing there except something like crosses. This means that these images bring us the customs and traditions of the disbelievers. Is it not enough that we are seeing this in the streets?
