Is Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) Light in His essence, based on His saying (the Exalted): “Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah preserve you, O honorable father, is Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) Light in His essence, based on His saying (the Exalted):
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth اللَّهُ نُورُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ
?

The Shaykh : No, because the meaning of the verse is that He illuminates them; and because it was reported in a hadith in Sahih Muslim, and the hadith includes a report from Abu Dharr: that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked:
Did Muhammad see his Lord? He said: A Light, how could I see Him?! هل رأى محمَّدٌ ربَّه ؟ قال : نورٌ أنَّى أراه ؟!
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 25:361
, and in a hadith mentioned by Muslim after this hadith, from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) and from all the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said in that hadith:
His veil is Light حجابُه النُّور
. So the Light is a veil that prevents humans from seeing Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), and it is not an attribute among the attributes of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). This is the stronger position regarding this verse.
Yes.
