Explaining some examples of rejecting the Sunnah in favor of the generalities of the Qur'an out of ignorance, and that the correct approach is to qualify the absolute statements of the Qur'an with the authentic, purified Sunnah.

The Shaykh : The example of one who rejects such a hadith or that one by a verse:
your [milk] mothers who nursed you
[An-Nisa 4:23]
and the like, is like the example of one who forbids every carrion, whether on land or in the sea, due to the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Prohibited to you are dead animals
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
. Similarly, he forbids every blood due to the completion of the verse:
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
. By doing so, he strikes at some authentic hadiths that explicitly state that the carrion of the sea is lawful; the carrion of the sea is lawful. Among the clearest things that have come regarding this is the hadith of Ibn 'Umar, which was narrated as marfu' (traced to the Prophet) and is authentic as mawquf (stopping at a Companion). In such cases, some scholars say: it is mawquf in the ruling of marfu'. Its text is:
Two carrions and two bloods have been made lawful to us: the fish and the locust, and the liver and the spleen
. And supporting what is related to this hadith regarding the fish is the story narrated by Imam Muslim in his *Sahih*:
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had sent out a military expedition and appointed Abu 'Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) as its commander. They went out as callers to Islam on the coast of the sea, and they were rationing their provisions, date by date. In the end, when their provisions ran short, they were exposed to severe hunger. So Allah the Mighty and Majestic cast a huge fish onto the coast of the sea. When they came to it, they began to cut pieces from it and eat from it, and they provisioned themselves from it, until they came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned to him what Allah had bestowed upon them of the fish. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked them if they had any remainder of it so that he could eat from it.
Why?
To make it clear to them that this dead fish is not included in the generality of the previous verse:
Prohibited to you are dead animals
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
. At that point, if we combine this hadith and the one before it with the verse:
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
, it becomes obligatory to interpret the verse with the Sunnah, as we mentioned earlier. The result is as follows:
Carrion is forbidden to you, except the carrion of the sea, and blood, except the blood of the liver and spleen. Where did we take this exception from?
And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them
[An-Nahl 16:44]
We took this exception, then, from his (peace and blessings be upon him) explanation, which is the Sunnah.
And so, the generalities of the Qur'an, the absolute statements of the Qur'an, and the summary statements of the Qur'an, all of this must be interpreted by what is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Rejecting a hadith sometimes because it conflicts, in their claim, with the generality of the Qur'an, this is not said by a Muslim on the face of the earth, or else he would be in the most extreme contradiction, and perhaps this contradiction would lead him to exit the religion.
