The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fulfilling what he was commanded to do in explaining the Qur'an and clarifying it for the people.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And likewise, it was incumbent upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not to conceal anything related to the explanation of the Noble Qur'an. This is the second verse:
And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them
[An-Nahl 16:44]
. So what was revealed to them is the explanation commanded in the first verse, and the explanation commanded in the second verse is... the clarification. This is what is referred to by the scholars of usul al-fiqh (the principles of jurisprudence) and fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) as explaining the ambiguous (mujmal) by detailing it, explaining the general (aam) by specifying it, explaining the absolute (mutlaq) by restricting it, and explaining the text whose ruling has been abrogated, even if its text remains, by clarifying its abrogation. And among the evidence for this from the authentic Sunnah—and the Sunnah is very extensive in this regard—is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
I have left with you two matters, and you will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah, and they will not separate until they come to me at the Pond
,
As long as you hold fast to two things which I have left among you, you will not go astray: God’s Book and His messenger’s sunna
Mishkat al-Masabih 186Hasan (Zubair `Aliza'i)
. This means that whoever holds fast to the Qur'an without the Sunnah has gone astray, and likewise, whoever holds fast to the Sunnah without the Qur'an has gone astray. One is not guided unless he takes hold of both revelations: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:
I will not find any of you reclining on a couch, saying: This is the Book of Allah; so whatever we find therein as lawful, we make lawful, and whatever we find therein as forbidden, we make forbidden. Be aware that I was given the Qur'an and its like with it.
,
Be aware that I was given the Qur'an and its like.
; that is, the explanation in the following sense: that his Sunnah (peace and blessings be upon him) is... We should know, on this occasion, that the Sunnah, which as we have learned is the explanation of the Noble Qur'an, is divided into three categories: speech, action, and approval. By which type or category of these three did he (peace and blessings be upon him) explain the Noble Qur'an, that explanation must be followed from him (peace be upon him), such as the interpretation of the Qur'an. There are many well-known examples of this, and there is no need for us to digress into them, because I want to say that this Sunnah, if it is necessary in its three categories for the Muslim to hold fast to it in order to understand the Book of Allah, and that he will not understand the Book of Allah except through this Sunnah.
