Is the person who has a grape vineyard required to pay its zakah, given that he has prepared the fruit for sale as grapes, not raisins?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Noble Shaykh, there is a question: A farmer or a person has a grape vineyard, and he has prepared it for sale, meaning he sells from this grape when he harvests it. Does he have to pay zakah on this grape, knowing that he does not turn it into raisins?

The Shaykh : Knowing that he?

The questioner : Does not turn it into raisins. So, does he pay the zakah in the form of grapes, or in value, or does he perform the estimation (kharas) and then turn into raisins the amount he is obligated to pay out?

The Shaykh : As long as you say that he does not turn it into raisins, he pays it out as it is, in the form of grapes, according to the scope mentioned in the Sunnah.

The questioner : The Sunnah came with paying out raisins, not grapes.

The Shaykh : You say he does not turn it into raisins.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : So what is paid out of the raisins, what is the amount, is it not the tenth or half the tenth?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : This is what I intended.

The questioner : Meaning, by virtue of the fact that he prepared it for trade.

The Shaykh : How for trade? Why does the one who turns it into raisins do so?!
Meaning, it is not permissible now to transfer the rulings of trade goods to the types on which zakah is obligatory by virtue of them being for trade. Does the one who has dates prepare them for trade?

The questioner : Yes, that is correct.

The Shaykh : So what is the difference between him and that one?!
The difference in your question is only that you imagine—and this may be theoretical or practical—that he does not turn it into raisins and sells it as is. This is not permissible in zakah. Rather, he must pay it out as he is obligated to pay it out in raisins if he turns it into raisins, or otherwise he pays it out in grapes as his Lord created it.
Yes.
