The Shaykh : He (peace and blessings be upon him) saw them, on more than one occasion, racing to seek blessing from some of his leftovers (peace and blessings be upon him). He remained silent about this, not because he approved of it, but as a legal policy toward them (peace and blessings be upon him). Here, I seize the opportunity to remind our brothers, the students of knowledge, and those who nominate themselves or have already nominated themselves to be callers to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), to follow the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in every aspect of his biography and actions, especially in his policy toward his Companions, his management of them, and his refraining from using harshness and severity in guiding them. This story falls under this category. He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to see them, and by his certain knowledge, he knew that they did so out of love, respect, honor, and reverence for him. He did not see it as part of the legal policy to rush to cut off this bond of love between them and him (peace and blessings be upon him). Rather, he left them for a period of time until he saw that the time had come to draw their attention to the fact that this matter is not among the noble of character, nor among the virtues of deeds. That is because he saw them one day racing to seek blessing from his ablution water (peace and blessings be upon him). So he said to them: He said—and here is the point regarding his policy (peace be upon him): :
So, true love for Allah and His Messenger is for the Muslim to adopt Islamic character traits, such as his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1264Da'if (Darussalam) Fulfill the trust and speak the truth when you converse and talk.
Therefore, the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) did not continue to seek blessing from his relics except for a very small number of individuals. As for that display which he (peace and blessings be upon him) tolerated for a period of time, it did not recur after this noble Prophetic guidance.
What drives you to do this? They said: Our love for Allah and His Messenger.
ما يحملكم على ذلك؟ قالوا: حب الله ورسولِهIf you truly love Allah and His Messenger, then fulfill the trust and speak the truth in your speech.
إن كنتم تحبون الله ورسولَه فأدُّوا الأمانة واصدقوا في الحديثSo, true love for Allah and His Messenger is for the Muslim to adopt Islamic character traits, such as his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Fulfill the trust for the one who entrusted you, and do not cheat the one who cheated you.
أدِّ الأمانة إلى مَن ائتمنك ولا تخن من خانكTherefore, the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) did not continue to seek blessing from his relics except for a very small number of individuals.
