What is the ruling on the followers racing the imam in saying “Ameen”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : There was a question today. The question was that the followers say “Ameen” immediately after the imam finishes saying:
nor those who go astray ولا الضالين
, so what is the ruling on that?

The Shaykh : We answered with what came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his saying:
When the Imam says Amin, say Amin, for if anyone’s utterance of Amin synchronnises with that of the angles, he will be forgiven his past sins.
Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani)
We spoke at length, so to summarize, this hadith means: It is not permissible for the followers to race the imam by saying “Ameen” before the imam himself begins to say “Ameen.”
If he says “Ameen,” then say “Ameen.”
This is a common error in all mosques; unfortunately, we do not exclude one country from another. This is due to people’s negligence regarding this hadith of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) first, and the scarcity of those who point out the obligation of following the imam in general second. You know, if Allah wills, the generality of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Imam is appointed to be followed. When he says Allahu Akbar, then say Allahu Akbar; when he bows, then bow; when he says Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah, then say Rabbana wa lakal-hamd; when he prostrates then prostrate; and if he prays sitting down then pray sitting down.
Sunan Ibn Majah 1238Sahih (Darussalam)
This is the principle regarding the obligation of the followers to follow the imams, and that it is not permissible for them to precede them.
The Imam is appointed to be followed, so when he says the takbir, say the takbir
Sunan an-Nasa'i 921Sahih (Darussalam)
In another narration:
The Imam is (appointed) to be followed. So do not differ from him
Sahih al-Bukhari 722
: So among the ways of opposing the imam in the matter of saying “Ameen” is for the followers to hasten the imam by saying “Ameen” before the imam himself says “Ameen.” This hadith is explicit and authentic because it is in al-Bukhari and Muslim, so I hope you pay attention to it:
When the Imam says Amin, say Amin, for if anyone’s utterance of Amin synchronnises with that of the angles, he will be forgiven his past sins.
Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani)
This is what the Muslim should observe so that he may perhaps attain the forgiveness of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). This is the summary of this issue, but you had raised another issue!
