If we sacrificed and forgot to mention the name, I have heard from you, may Allah preserve you, that this sacrificial animal is not permissible to eat, and Allah the Exalted says

The Shaykh : Raise your voice, may Allah bless you.
The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy.
The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.
The questioner : This questioner says: If we sacrificed and forgot to mention the name, I have heard from you, may Allah preserve you, that this sacrificial animal is not permissible to eat.
The Shaykh : Yes.
The questioner : Because of the lack of mentioning the name.
The Shaykh : Yes?
The questioner : Because of the lack of mentioning the name, and Allah the Exalted says:[Al-Baqarah 2:286]. And His saying: [Al-Ahzab 33:5].
The Shaykh : Yes. This person is asking: If a person sacrifices and forgets to mention the name, does the slaughtered animal remain lawful or not?
The answer: It is not lawful, because Allah the Exalted said:[Al-An'am 6:121] and He stated it generally. Here there are two things: the first is the act of the slaughterer, and the second is the act of the eater. If he slaughtered and did not mention the name of Allah, there is no sin on him because of the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Baqarah 2:286]. But the act of the eater remains. It is not permissible for the eater to eat while he knows that the name of Allah was not mentioned over it, and Allah has forbidden him from that. But if the eater ate while forgetting or being ignorant, then he owes nothing. And this is what we have established, which is the implication of the Quranic and Prophetic evidence. And it was chosen by the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him).
Someone might say: A lot of money is lost to a person, if we suppose it is a camel, for example?
We say: Praise be to Allah, if it is lost, it is lost by the command of Allah.[Al-An'am 6:121]. And if it is lost, he will not forget the mention of the name after today, ever, because he will remember that this slaughtered animal was missed by him. Do you see if a person prayed while in a state of ritual impurity, forgetting? He owes nothing in the prayer because he was forgetting. But it is obligatory for him to repeat it because the condition was missed. Yes.
And we have exhausted the discussion of this issue in our book The Sacrifice and Ritual Slaughter. If you referred to it, it would be better. And this is the last question.
