Family Planning

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: What is the ruling of the Shari'ah regarding family planning? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

Answer: Seeking offspring and progeny is a prescribed matter, in order to increase the number of the Muslim community. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged marrying a woman who is loving and fertile, and he said:
for I shall outnumber the peoples by youإني مكاثر بكم الأمم
Sunan Abi Dawud 2050Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)

Therefore, seeking progeny is a prescribed matter for Muslims, and it should be cared for and encouraged.
As for family planning, this is a malicious plot that the enemies of Islam have planted among us. They intend thereby to weaken the Muslims and reduce their numbers. Therefore, family planning is not permissible in Islam, and it is prohibited because it conflicts with the Shari'ah objective, which is to increase the individuals of the ummah and the working members of society, and it nullifies the energy that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) created for the cultivation of this universe. Thus, progeny is sought, and through it, benefits are realized for individuals, groups, and the ummah. This idea, the idea of family planning, is an idea
planted upon the Muslims, and perhaps it has affected some of the ignorant, or those weak in faith, so they were influenced by it. It is obligatory for them to erase this idea from their minds, and to seek progeny and increase it. Sustenance is in the hand of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and an increase in progeny brings with it good, because Allah does not create a soul except that He creates its sustenance and facilitates what is needed for its interests. Sustenance is in the hand of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Those who complain or threaten with economic crises, and that an increase in population leads to scarcity of food and sustenance, all of this is from the inspiration of Satan and the helpers of Satan who do not believe in Allah and in the decree of Allah.
As for those who believe in Allah, they rely upon Him and place their trust in Him
And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purposeوَمَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَالِغُ أَمْرِهِ
[Al-Talaq: 3]. And when the polytheists used to kill their children out of fear of poverty, Allah forbade them from doing so,He said:
And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin.
[Al-Isra: 31],And He, the Exalted, said:
and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and themوَلَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ مِنْ إِمْلَاقٍ نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُمْ
[Al-An'am: 151].
This indicates that sustenance is in the hand of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and that Allah decrees sustenance for every soul, and with an increase in progeny, sustenance increases, production increases, and the workers increase.
