Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: Your Eminence, the Shaykh. There is a radio station broadcasting from outside the Kingdom, most of which consists of songs and music. But they have included some fatwas, so people have devoted themselves to listening to it. What is the ruling on listening to it, knowing that it contains that affliction?

The Shaykh : What is the affliction?

The questioner : Music and songs.

The Shaykh : Yes. In any case: It is well known that radio stations include both good and evil. If you are safe from listening to the evil and you listen to the good, there is no harm, because this radio—for example—or television is in your control. If you wish, you turn it off, and if you wish, you turn it on. So if there is good in it, there is no blame in listening to the good; you listen to the good on the condition that you are safe for yourself, because some people say like this: I want to listen to the fatwas and the news and the like. But the Shaytan continues with them until they become engrossed in listening to forbidden things. Yes. Al-Khudra. Al-Bukayriyah. Al-Bukayriyah. Al-Bukayriyah.

The questioner : Al-Bukayriyah, yes.

The Shaykh : Do you hear my answer to the other people's questions?

The questioner : We ask?

The Shaykh : I am not asking. I am saying: Do you hear my answer to the other people's questions?

The questioner : Yes, indeed. We are listening, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah. Yes.
