The Ruling on Listening to Songs
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 2894 )
Q 1: I am a young man, twenty years old, and when I listen to songs, I am captivated by some of them, but when I remember Allah, I turn them off out of fear of Him. Is it permissible for me to listen to some songs? As you know, 99% of current songs are about love, so what is your opinion on that?
A 1 : It is not permissible for you to listen to songs; rather, you must avoid them,
for they corrupt the heart, are a means to evil, and a distraction from good. The same applies to music and all other types of amusement. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
