Is a woman’s work as a doctor, teacher, or nurse among the necessities that permit her to go out and leave her children with maids?

The Shaykh: First: If there is no one there to perform the obligation of teaching girls the necessary education, within the limits of the conditions we alluded to, then it is permissible for this pressing situation that the woman leave her home to teach girls of her own sex under the conditions we mentioned earlier. Perhaps we should allude to other matters: that there should not be any consequences resulting from her teaching, such as, for example, there being no mixing between the women and the disabled men. If the matter is free from such violations, then at that time we see no obstacle to the woman going out in the manner described in the question, provided there is no one to perform this duty in her place.
