A word by the Shaykh regarding the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "Has not the man seen that We created him from a sperm-drop, and behold, he is a clear adversary? And he gave us an example and forgot his own creation. He said: Who will give life to bones when they are crumbled?"

The Shaykh : All praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, seek His forgiveness, and turn to Him in repentance. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own selves and from the badness of our deeds. Whom Allah guides, none can mislead, and whom He leaves to mislead, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family and his Companions and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment).
As for what follows, O my brothers, we listened to verses from the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) recited to us by our imams in this night. I would like to speak on two points from them, and then we will come to what we promised yesterday regarding the discussion on fasting. The first is the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):
(77) Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary? (78) And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"
[Ya-Sin 36:77-78]
The meaning of "man" here is the man who denies the Resurrection, whether he is specified by his person or specified by his description. Know that what comes in the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is generally specified by description, and if a specific person is mentioned, it is only for a meaning that the context requires.
Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop
[Ya-Sin 36:77]
then at once, he is a clear adversary.
[An-Nahl 16:4]
he argues with a vigorous argument. Among the things he argues about is that he says:
Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?" من يحي العظام وهي رميم
[Ya-Sin 36:78]
Do you know what "crumbled" means? "Crumbled" refers to bones that are rotten and decayed. So this man who denies the Resurrection says: How will these bones be given life? These bones that have crumbled, rotted, and turned to dust—who will give them life? Listen to the answer, and then listen to the rational, demonstrative evidence contained in this answer. Allah the Exalted says:
Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time قل يحيها الذي أنشأها أول مرة
[Ya-Sin 36:79]
This is the first evidence, a rational, demonstrative proof that no one can deny. It is said to the one who says, "Who will give life to bones when they are crumbled?" It is said to him: Who created them the first time? So Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will say: Say, "He who created them the first time will give them life," because the One capable of initiating creation is capable of restoring it, a fortiori. As Allah the Exalted said:
And it is He who begins creation; then He repeats it, and that is [even] easier for Him
[Ar-Rum 30:27]
Meaning, restoring it is easier for Him. And this evidence, O my brothers, is it a rational proof or one in which an arguer can debate? Yes, it is rational, because it is known that restoration is easier than initiation. Have you seen if you built a magnificent, towering palace, and then this building collapsed, and then someone wanted to restore it? Is not restoration easier than initiation? Yes, because it does not require planning or creating from scratch, but only requires restoration, and restoration is easier. Therefore, He said:
Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time قل يحيها الذي أنشأها أول مرة
[Ya-Sin 36:79]
And this is the second evidence.
and He is, of all creation, Knowing." وهو بكل خلق عليم
[Ya-Sin 36:79]
So the All-Knowing of every creation, of whom nothing is hidden regarding how He creates or how He originates, is All-Knowing of the restoration of creation and how this creation is restored. This is an argument based on the comprehensiveness of the knowledge of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) of every creation. And inability to do something can only be due to one of two things: either ignorance or incapacity. Therefore, if it were said to a person, "Make us a radio," and he does not know how to make it, is it possible for him to make the radio? It is not possible. He has not studied how this radio is originated, nor does he know if it can be originated. No. And if it were said to a person who knows this craft but is not capable of it, "Make this radio," would he make it or not? A man, O my brothers, is paralyzed; he cannot work with his hands, but he has studied how these radios are made. Is it possible for him to make this radio? No. Why? Because he is not capable. So the Lord (Mighty and Majestic) is All-Knowing of every creation and is capable of it. This is another evidence for the possibility of restoring the crumbled bones. The third evidence is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
[It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.
[Ya-Sin 36:80]
And how is that? That is because there is known wood that people used before the invention of modern means. Wood that is struck with a flint. A flint is a type of iron that is struck against this wood like this, and then a spark ignites, and people kindle with it. Did you visualize the matter or not?

The questioner : What is the name of the tree, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : The tree is general. Did you understand the matter? It is the wood that is struck with the flint, or struck by the flint, and a spark ignites, and people kindle from it. Do you understand this?

The questioner : No.

The Shaykh : Does green wood contradict fire? Yes, it contradicts it, because fire is hot and dry, and green wood is moist and cold. Moist and cold, and yet Allah brings out this hot, dry fire from this green, moist, cold wood. And the One capable of bringing a thing from its opposite is capable of restoring these crumbled bones after they were crumbled. Is that not so, O people?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Good, is this the third or the fourth evidence? The third.
[It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.
[Ya-Sin 36:80]
The matter is not hidden from you. You kindle from it at every time and every time. The fourth evidence:
Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them?
[Ya-Sin 36:81]
Which is greater, the creation of man or the creation of the heavens and the earth? The creation of the heavens and the earth, because Allah says:
The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind
[Ghafir 40:57]
So the One who was capable of creating the heavens and the earth and bringing them into existence, along with the factories, benefits, and great, massive stars within them, is capable of restoring these bones after they were crumbled, as we hear now.
Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them?
[Ya-Sin 36:81]
The answer: Yes, He is capable of creating the like of man, because He created the heavens and the earth, which are greater than the creation of man. The fifth evidence:
and He is the Knowing Creator.
[Ya-Sin 36:81]
"Al-Khalaq" (The Creator) from the linguistic aspect is a form of exaggeration indicating the abundance of the creation of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And from another aspect, it is a descriptive attribute indicating that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is attributed with creation in a way that He does not cease from it. Therefore, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has not ceased and does not cease to be a Creator, All-Knowing. Therefore, He said:
Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator.
[Ya-Sin 36:81]
The Creator, the One capable of bringing into existence, the All-Knowing of it, is capable of restoring the bones while they are crumbled until they become a new creation. The sixth evidence:
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is.
[Ya-Sin 36:82]
"His command, when He wills a thing." We have the word "thing" as an indefinite noun in the context of what? In the context of what, O people?
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is.
[Ya-Sin 36:82]
.

The questioner : The context of a condition.

The Shaykh : An indefinite noun in the context of a condition, and an indefinite noun in the context of a condition implies generality. That means, if He wills any of the things, He only says to it "Be," and it is. Pay attention to the word "it is." The "fa" (so) indicates sequence and also causality. This thing becomes immediately upon the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) "Be." Does the intended thing lag behind the command or not? I ask you, does it lag or come immediately without delay? Yes, it comes immediately without delay. What is the evidence?
And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye.
[Al-Qamar 54:50]
One time, and the commanded thing is like the flash of lightning. And do you see anything faster than the flash of lightning? Never. So the intended thing of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that He commanded to be comes in one time, like the flash of lightning. And look at the Resurrection; does it lag behind the command of Allah? Allah the Exalted says:
It will be only one shout
[As-Saffat 37:19]
One shout.
And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.
[An-Nazi'at 79:14]
On the face of the earth. And He says, as we heard a little while ago:
It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us.
[Ya-Sin 36:53]
All of them are presented to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) with this one word. So the One who says to a thing "Be" and it is, is capable of restoring these bones that were crumbled, restoring them as another creation.
(81) Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator. (82) His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is. (83) So exalted is He in whose hand is the realm of all things, and to Him you will be returned.
[Ya-Sin 36:81-83]
This evidence is the seventh evidence:
So exalted is He in whose hand is the realm of all things
[Ya-Sin 36:83]
That is under His power and dominion. "Malakut" (Dominion) means "mulk" (kingdom), but it is in the form of exaggeration. "Malakut of every thing" means all the kingdom is in the hand of Allah (Mighty and Majestic); nothing is too difficult for Him. And the One in Whose hand is the dominion of every thing, nothing can make Him incapable. And as for the eighth evidence, it is His saying the Exalted:
And to Him you will return.
And the aspect of indication from this verse, the aspect of indication from this phrase, is the reference to the fact that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) only created the creation for the sake that they return to Him. Allah created the creation for the sake that they return to Him, because if He created the creation without... So Glorified is He in Whose hand is the dominion of every thing. This is the seventh evidence.
And to Him you will return.
Meaning that the return of the creation is to Allah. So if the return is to Allah, it is necessary that He give life to these crumbled bones so that He may reward every person with what he deserves.
(7) So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, (8) And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.
