The questioner : Yes, in the daily newspapers.

The Shaykh : And these people who print the newspapers, do you think they are the ones who make things lawful and forbidden until you ask whether it is permissible or not?

The questioner : We have no concern with them; we ask for ourselves.

The Shaykh : You say "publishing." If you mean, is it permissible to buy the newspapers? Do you mean, is it permissible to buy the newspaper?

The questioner : No, I do not mean buying the newspaper.

The Shaykh : Then what do you mean?

The questioner : I mean a specific competition, let it be memorizing the Qur'an. They asked me for a picture to publish in the official newspaper because, for example, I succeeded in this competition. So, is it permissible to publish the picture?

The Shaykh : So you mean, is it permissible to give them a picture of you so they can publish it?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Where is your question? Where is the reality of your matter? No, it is not permissible, it is not permissible.

The questioner : It is not permissible, and may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And may the same be for you. And when you succeed, what do you mean by success? Do you mean the abode of this world or the Hereafter?

The questioner : The Hereafter, of course.

The Shaykh : If Allah wills, and peace be upon you.
