Discussion regarding the disbelief of the one who abandons prayer.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... But you and I are equal in this, meaning that the one who declares the one who abandons prayer a disbeliever does not distinguish, and I, who rule that he is a Muslim and not a disbeliever, do not distinguish. So why use the language of emotions? That if he did not pray in his entire life, not even once?! This is the language of emotions.

Another questioner : The one who does not pray in his entire life, it appears that he is lying about the Shari'ah of Allah.

The Shaykh : His case is left to Allah; but look now at how the action differs. This is the one who did not pray in his entire life, or the one who only neglected a prayer in his life.

Another questioner: Once.

The Shaykh : Are we going?

Another questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : This one or that one, if he is presented to the executioner, and the executioner strikes the head, and it is said to him, either you pray or you are killed, and he prefers death over prayer, he dies as an apostate. Why? Because the material proof has been established. As for what is between him and his Lord, whether he never prayed, or prayed a little or a lot, and so on, by what do we take him out of the religion? And it is assumed that he testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. But I am surprised by the scholars, especially in your country here, who teach you that the one who abandons prayer is a disbeliever, and with the condition of laziness, not denial. There is no disagreement regarding denial. How do they not see the hadith of intercession reported in the "Sahihayn":
When the believers enter Paradise, they say: O our Lord, we have brothers who used to pray with us, and perform Hajj with us, and fast with us, and strive in our path with us. We do not see them. They entered the Fire. So Allah says: Look. Whomever you find among them in the Fire, take them out. So they take out a great number. Then they say: O our Lord, we have taken out a great number. He says: Look. Whomever has in his heart the weight of a dinar of faith, take him out of the Fire.
; are these people going to be those who pray?

The questioner : They entered the Fire for another reason.

The Shaykh : I did not notice! The first group said: they used to pray, and so on, and they took them out of the Fire. Another group.

Another questioner : A division of the first group.

The Shaykh : Ah, this is another group, they are not.

Another questioner : They pray in their homes, and they do not pray in congregation. The first division.

The Shaykh : You have strayed from the topic.

The questioner : May Allah reward you,
A hadith between the man and
.

Another questioner : The first division prays with us. It appears they pray with us in congregation in the prayers in the mosques. And the second division, those who are in the Fire, perhaps they remained, maybe they prayed but in their homes?

The Shaykh : Perhaps.

The questioner : This is a possible probability.

The Shaykh : No, it is not possible. Listen to the continuation of the hadith:
Take out whomever has in his heart the weight of a dinar of faith. So they take out a great number. They say: O our Lord, we have taken out from the Fire whomever You permitted us. He says: Look. Whomever has in his heart the weight of half a dinar, or the weight of half a dinar. So they take out a great number, until they take out whomever has in his heart the weight of an atom of faith. Then Allah says: The intercession of the prophets and messengers, the angels, and the righteous has been exhausted, and my intercession remains. He says: Take out of the Fire whomever did not do any good at all.
.

Another questioner : Good at all.

The Shaykh : Good at all.

The questioner : Did he not say "La ilaha illa Allah"?

The Shaykh : What is your opinion? Good, did he not do any good at all?

The questioner : Meaning he did not say "La ilaha illa Allah" either?

The Shaykh : No, faith is faith. You are not rushing now. Either you reject the hadith or you believe in it.

The questioner : I do not reject it, I do not reject the hadith.

The Shaykh : I do not think, I do not think, but it remains either the second option, you do not reject the hadith, because the hadith is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. So why do you interpret the hadith with an interpretation that no Muslim says? Meaning they did not say "La ilaha illa Allah".

The questioner : From the deeds?

The Shaykh : That is it.

The questioner: All right.

The Shaykh : So look:
Take out of the Fire whomever did not do any good at all.
meaning from the righteous deeds. As for faith, it is necessary, because it is the foundation. So this hadith is not mentioned at all in this context. Even Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (may Allah have mercy on him), who collected the evidence of both parties, did not mention the hadith in detail, but only came to this last sentence. So what do we do with it? As for the hadith:
Between the man and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer. So whoever abandons prayer has committed disbelief.
; its answer is known, because not everyone who is said to be a disbeliever means he has become an apostate.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : That is it.
Abu Layla : Shaykh, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : Nothing flew out of your hand, I am seeing you, meaning they have put you as a doorman for the people, and you are not doing ... .
Abu Layla : ... He slept and finished!
