The Shaykh : We mentioned the story; it occurred during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Some people spoke about it, either out of ignorance or arrogance. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not order him to repeat the prayer, as happened with Mu'awiyah ibn al-Hakam al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) in a narrated story in "Sahih Muslim." I mentioned it in full in many gatherings, and now I am only taking a summary from it. The hadith is the one that tells the story. One day he was praying behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so a man next to him sneezed, and he said to him, "May Allah have mercy on you." The sneezer was praying, and the one responding to him was praying behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Companions around him looked at him with the corners of their eyes. He was agitated and distressed, and he raised his voice loudly and said, "Woe to my mother! Why are you looking at me?" It became clear that he realized during the prayer that he had made a serious mistake. Because he said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he turned to me. By Allah, he did not overpower me, nor did he humiliate me, nor did he hit me, nor did he insult me. He only said to me: Sahih Muslim 537a.
Sahih Muslim 537a: The implication is that people's speech in prayer invalidates it. So, was this man's prayer invalid? The answer is: No. Why? Because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not order him to repeat the prayer. Rather, he disciplined him with this gentle speech. He did not go beyond saying to him: . When he saw the gentleness of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in teaching this one who made a mistake, he became eager to ask many questions, and the Messenger (peace be upon him) answered them, and they are mentioned in "Sahih Muslim." This is what can be answered regarding that question.
Talking to persons is not fitting during the prayer, for it consists of glorifying Allah, declaring his Greatness. and recitation of the Qur'an
إنَّ هذه الصلاة لا يصلح فيها شيء من كلام الناس ، إنما هو تسبيح وتحميد وتكبير وتلاوة القرآنTalking to persons is not fitting during the prayer
لا يصلح فيها شيء من كلام الناسIndeed, in this prayer, nothing of people's speech is appropriate; it is only glorification, praise, magnification, and recitation of the Qur'an.
إن هذا الصلاة لا يصلح فيها شيء من كلام الناس ، إنما هي تسبيح وتحميد وتكبير وتلاوة القرآن
