Refutation of Ibn al-Qayyim's claim that the hadith of Abu Hurayrah: "And let him place his hands before his knees" is among those whose text was inverted by some of the narrators.

The Shaykh : Then he says in completing the answer: "And it occurred to me that the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, as we mentioned, is among those whose text and original source were inverted by some of the narrators, and perhaps it is:
And let him place his knees before his hands وليضع ركبتيه قبل يديه
." Is this how a hadith is refuted?! When a hadith comes from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), it is said: Perhaps the narrator made a mistake!! And perhaps the correct version is such and such!! This is contrary to what we learned from Ibn Taymiyyah andThe Shaykh : Ibn al-Qayyim that, as it came in "Sahih al-Bukhari," when Ibn Umar narrated to the people from the Tabi'un that the Sunnah is to kiss the Black Stone regarding the tawaf; one of them said to him: "O Ibn Umar, what do you think if I am crowded out?" He said to him: "Make your 'what do you think' at that star."
I am your uncle, I am narrating the Sunnah to you, what are you saying to me, crowded out, not crowded out?! ... Another one, you are only ... upon doing the Sunnah; hey, the word "what do you think" its answer is: "Make it at that star," meaning throw it away and do not impose probabilities upon the authentic Prophetic hadiths, this is the methodology of the people of the Sunnah, the methodology of the people of hadith, the methodology of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim, but as Imam al-Shafi'i said regarding the books: Allah refused that anything be completed except His Book - meaning the Noble Qur'an - , then He refused that any human on the face of the earth be completed after the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) - , so infallibility is for him and not for anyone else.
He says: "So perhaps the original hadith is: And let him place his knees before his hands," he gives an example of the hadiths in which he also claims inversion, saying: "Just as the hadith of Ibn Umar that Bilal or:
Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Bilal pronounces the Adhan at night, so eat and drink (Suhur) till Ibn Um Maktum pronounces the Adhan." إن بلالًا يؤذِّن بليل ؛ فكلوا واشربوا حتى يؤذِّن ابن أم مكتوم
Sahih al-Bukhari 622, 623
,' he is referring to two hadiths, the famous hadith in "the two Sahihs" and others is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Let not the adhan of Bilal mislead you; for he only gives the adhan at night so that the sleeper may rise and the one who is eating suhur may eat suhur; so eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum gives the adhan لا يغرَّنَّكم أذان بلال ؛ فإنما يؤذِّن بليلٍ ليقومَ النائم وليتسحَّر المتسحِّر ؛ فكلوا واشربوا حتى يؤذِّنَ ابن أم مكتوم
, this is the famous and correct wording, and it is what Ibn al-Qayyim focuses on to prove that this authentic hadith was inverted by some of the narrators, so he placed Ibn Umm Maktum in place of Bilal in the first adhan for Fajr, and conversely placed Bilal in place of Ibn Umm Maktum in the second adhan, so some of the narrators said:
He only gives the adhan إنما يؤذِّن
So let not the adhan of Ibn Umm Maktum mislead you; so eat and drink until you hear the adhan of Bilal فلا يغرَّنَّكم أذان ابن أمِّ مكتوم ؛ فكلوا واشربوا حتى تسمعوا أذان بلال
, Ibn al-Qayyim says: that this is inversion, and many scholars of hadith have said this, and this research does not concern us much now; because inversion actually exists from some people, just as the matter was inverted upon the author himself (may Allah have mercy on him).
