(A woman in the state of ihram does not cover her face, nor does she wear gloves).

The Shaykh : It has reached me that some of the women, who are naturally inclined toward the strictness of the Shari'ah and the methodology of the Book and the Sunnah, when they heard the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Muwatta Malik 20:17, and considering that they had lived their lives covering their faces with the niqab or the shawl—meaning, covering their faces—they found it extremely difficult in their hearts to uncover their faces and not to wear the niqab during Hajj or 'Umrah. Therefore, they found an exit for themselves in that manner which drew your attention to its disapproval. We said, "We will offer a sacrificial animal, or we will cover our faces and offer a sacrificial animal." Do you think that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the women in the state of ihram: Muwatta Malik 20:17; did he intend for them to contradict this noble Prophetic prohibition, or did he intend for them to submit to it and not act in contradiction with the intention of offering blood?
There is no doubt that the first command is what is intended by his saying (peace be upon him):Muwatta Malik 20:17.
The truth is, I feel from this hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted from his followers, specifically the daughter referred to today as the "fair sex"—and better than this name is what our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named them:, describing them as "virgins"—when this prohibition came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Muwatta Malik 20:17, he wanted them to step away from their customs and traditions; even if they were good according to the Shari'ah. This is because, just as he obligated the men—as you all see us now, all in one garment and one attire, whereas when we are not in the state of ihram, each of us wears what he wishes, as he said (peace be upon him): Mishkat al-Masabih 4380—the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted in this hadith to move the women somewhat away from their customs to a new ruling due to their entering into a new act of worship. Just as we now... do not put anything on our heads, even if the rays of the sun strike us. We do all of this in submission to the rulings of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), not in following our desires and customs. So when some women resort to contradicting the prohibition of the Messenger (peace be upon him)... by imposing blood upon themselves, they have not achieved the beautiful goal intended by such a legal ruling: Muwatta Malik 20:17. However, there is an exit for them whereby they can combine their desire, which is covering their faces, with the method of draping, not by tying the niqab over the nose or tying the shawl over the forehead, but by draping her shawl or jilbab over her face. By doing so, she achieves her noble purpose—which is covering the face—without falling into a clear contradiction of the Shari'ah, and then trying to find an exit from this contradiction through blood.
Blood is not an end in itself when it is prescribed in certain places; rather, it is either blood of gratitude, or blood of... . As for whenever a person commits a sin and intends it, and finds an exit for himself from this sin through blood; this is not the way of the believers,[Qaf 50:37].
