A hadith regarding a report in al-Barbahari's work on the issue of "sweetness of tongue."

Another questioner : In a book on which the brother, Dr. al-Qahtani, wrote a commentary.

The Shaykh : Raise your voice, please.

The questioner : In al-Barbahari's book on the Sunnah, on which Dr. al-Qahtani wrote a commentary, he mentioned "sweetness of tongue." I also saw it in al-Lalika'i's *Sharh Usul I'tiqad Ahl al-Sunnah*, and also in a treatise dedicated to it, but I did not find a valid report raised to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the issue of "sweetness of tongue."

The Shaykh: I did not understand you.

The questioner : They mention in the creed the scale.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Yes, but they mention "sweetness" with it. He says: This is a scale for him, having a sweet tongue.

The Shaykh : It has a tongue?

The questioner : Yes, so I did not find a report for this except in al-Lalika'i's *Sharh Usul I'tiqad Ahl al-Sunnah* from al-Hasan al-Basri. I did not find anything raised to the Prophet.

The Shaykh : I do not know this in the Sunnah at all. Perhaps you know that if al-Hasan al-Basri narrated a hadith with a valid chain to him, meaning al-Hasan al-Basri, saying, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said," this hadith would not be a proof; how much less so if it is stopped at him? Therefore, do not be concerned with it, and do not believe in anything pertaining to the unseen except with a valid hadith. Praise be to Allah, this amount of faith is sufficient. It is not required in matters of the unseen that what is said about the condition of mass transmission be met. Merely being a valid hadith, we do not distinguish between a ruling and a creed; all of it came to us from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) validly, so it is obligatory to believe in it. And if you do not find it, half of knowledge, I do not know, and I do not know.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : By Allah, O Shaykh, we hope to sit with you.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good and bless you.

The questioner : Your time is precious, and we have burdened you.

The Shaykh : ... May Allah bless you.
