The questioner : He says: It is mentioned in some hadiths that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ; he asked: What is meant by the hand here? Is it power, or how is it interpreted?
The Shaykh : What is the hadith?
The questioner : He said this is part of the hadith:.
The Shaykh : In many hadiths that begin with a phrase like this, such as his saying (peace be upon him):Sunan Abi Dawud 5193Sahih (Al-Albani).
There is no doubt that the hand of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) is an attribute, also, of His attributes (Mighty and Majestic), and there is no necessity for figurative interpretation, neither in the known verses nor in this hadith. The souls of the servants of Allah, among whom is Muhammad the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), are in His hand. Does the hand contradict power such that we should leave this hadith on its apparent meaning? Or is the hand, which usually acts, characterized by power in action? There is absolutely no justification for figurative interpretation.
