The Shaykh : I said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned in the first hadith: and in that hadith: Sunan Abi Dawud 3213Sahih (Al-Albani) together, Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3788Sahih (Darussalam), and as a commentary on the word or on the word: the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we should mention that among the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is following the righteous predecessors, among the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is following the righteous predecessors, because they were the closest in time to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), especially among them his Companions (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him), who took and received the Shari'ah from him, from his pure mouth, fresh and green, before it began to be infiltrated and before what is not from it entered into it, from what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) warned his Ummah against taking from the newly invented matters of affairs, and therefore he preached to them (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) one day a wonderful sermon, which became a constitution for every caller to Islam with the call of truth, that is what came in the hadith of al-'Arba' ibn Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) preached to us a sermon, and our hearts trembled from it, and our eyes shed tears from it," so we said: O Messenger of Allah, give us advice, he said: and in another hadith: Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam), the point of this authentic hadith is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged his Companions to hold fast to his Sunnah first, then he added to it that he ordered us to hold fast to the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs second, for he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: , and he did not suffice with this order and this encouragement, but he added to it and said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2676Sahih (Darussalam), in this hadith there is a verbal expansion and a conceptual expansion of the Sunnah which was mentioned previously in the preceding hadith, Mishkat al-Masabih 186Hasan (Zubair `Aliza'i).
You have been left upon a white, pure [religion], its night like its day. No one strays from it except one who is perishing
تركتم على بيضاء نقية ، ليلها كنهارها ، لا يضلُّ عنها إلا هالكand following the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
على كتاب الله وعلى سنَّة رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم -and they shall not split until they meet at the Hawd
لن يتفرَّقا حتى يَرِدَا عليَّ الحوضI advise you to fear Allah, and to listen and obey, even if a slave from Abyssinia is appointed over you; for whoever lives among you will see much disagreement; so hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs after me, and bite into it with your molars, and beware of newly invented matters; for every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance
Hold fast to my Sunnah
عليكم بسنَّتيand the Sunnah of the rightly guided Khulafa'
وسنة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين من بعديAs long as you hold fast to two things which I have left among you, you will not go astray: God’s Book and His messenger’s sunna
تركتُ فيكم أمرَين ، لن تضلُّوا ما إن تمسَّكتم بهما ، كتاب الله وسنَّتي
