What is the ruling on saying

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Did you not do well? It is a phrase that is transmitted, but it is transmitted in the Sunnah.

The questioner: To the mu'adhdhin, every time he calls to prayer, we say to him, "Well done."

The Shaykh: Not in a specific form; nothing has been transmitted regarding this.

The questioner: It is said to the mu'adhdhin (the one who calls to prayer).

The Shaykh : Generally speaking.

The questioner: To the mu'adhdhin.

The Shaykh: In a general sense, meaning without specifically designating the mu'adhdhin, just as it came in "Sahih al-Bukhari" that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was traveling, and when the time for the Fajr prayer arrived, he went out to relieve himself, and al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah was with him. Al-Mughirah was wearing leather socks. After he had relieved himself, he performed wudu', and al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah poured the water for his ablution. When it came time to wash his feet, he intended to remove the leather socks and said:
He ordered me to leave them as he had put them after performing ablution دَعْهما ؛ فإنِّي أدخلتهما طاهرتين
Sahih al-Bukhari 206
, then they proceeded to the mosque, which was the mosque he had established in the desert for prayer. The Companions had waited for the Messenger (peace be upon him) as was their custom, but they thought he was delayed, so they appointed 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf to lead them in prayer. When the Messenger (peace be upon him) and al-Mughirah arrived, al-Mughirah saw that the people were praying and praying, not behind the Messenger, but behind another person. He wanted to signal to them, so he said:
Leave them. دَعْهم
. Then the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and al-Mughirah followed 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf. When 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf finished the prayer, they came and completed one rak'ah. When the people finished, they were greatly surprised by the matter, for it was the Messenger praying as a follower, whereas the rule is that he should be the imam; therefore, the matter was great in their eyes, and they sensed this in their faces. So he said to them:
You have done well, so do this أحسَنْتُم ، هكذا فاصنعوا
. Thus, the phrase "well done" to someone is appropriate for a suitable occasion, but for it to be said to the mu'adhdhin, may Allah make your breaths pleasant, there is no authority from Allah for this. We see you in good health. Welcome, and peace be upon you.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh: If he is weak, his following the imam means he is still considered a follower in the ruling of the follower.

The questioner: Shaykh ... of the Two Holy Mosques.
