Ruling on saying: (You do not deserve it) or: (By Allah, you do not deserve it)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: A. A. H. from Riyadh says in his question: Some people, when a patient recovers, say to him: "You do not deserve it," as if by this they are objecting to the will of Allah. Or some people, when they hear that so-and-so is ill, say: "By Allah, he does not deserve it." We ask Your Eminence to clarify the permissibility or impermissibility of saying this phrase. May Allah reward you with good.

A: This phrase is not permissible; because it is an objection to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and He (Glorified and Exalted is He) is more aware of the conditions of His servants, and He has the perfect wisdom in what He decrees and determines for His servants, such as health and illness, wealth and poverty, and the like. What is prescribed is to say: "May Allah grant him health," "May Allah cure him," and similar good phrases. May Allah guide all Muslims to understand the religion and to remain steadfast upon it; He is the best of those asked.
