Explanation of the hadith of Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that when his death approached, he said: O people of Ash'ari

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The hadith following this one is weak, and we pass over it.
And the one after that is authentic, and it is his saying: And from Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that when his death approached, he said: O people of Ash'ari, let the present convey this to the absent; I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
The sweetness of this world is the bitterness of the Hereafter, and the bitterness of this world is the sweetness of the Hereafter حلاوة الدُّنيَا مُرَّةُ الآخِرَةِ ، وَمُرَّةُ الدُّنْيَا حلاوة الآخِرَةِ
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:18
.
This, too, is a hadith whose purpose seems to be consoling the poor and needy who were given only a little from this world; so the Messenger (peace be upon him) says to them:
The sweetness of this world is the bitterness of the Hereafter حلاوة الدُّنيَا مُرَّةُ الآخِرَةِ
(88) The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children (89) But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." يَوْمَ لَا يَنْفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ * إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:88-89]
.
So Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, the narrator of this hadith, is not Abu Musa al-Ash'ari who is well known, and they are from the tribe of Ash'ari, the well-known one, and they are from the same tribe. This hadith was narrated by al-Hakim, and he said: The chain of narration is authentic.
The hadith following this one is also weak.
