When the deceased is placed in his grave and the two angels question him, in this state, do not the people who are instructing him hear?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), when he said:
Now he is questioned الآن يُسأل
, he is questioned by two angels: What is your religion? Who is your God? And who is your Prophet?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : In this state, do the people who are sitting there not hear either?

The Shaykh : No, he does not hear.

The questioner : He is hearing the two angels, whether they are instructing him or questioning him; is the hearing immediate or what?

The Shaykh : It is very limited.

The questioner : It is limited.

The Shaykh : Yes, the hearing is very limited; why? Because, as you know, right now we are talking to each other; let someone speak there next to you; you are hearing, but you are not comprehending; correct? You are occupied with what is more important, with what you are directing your entire heart and soul toward; correct, you are hearing voices, but you do not have the readiness to extract any benefit from these voices if there is any benefit, and so is the deceased approximately; because these are matters of the unseen in which we cannot truly expand.
The deceased in his grave, he is now under the questioning of two very terrifying angels; it does not cross his mind, neither his father nor his son nor his mother nor his wife nor anything else; his concern in that hour is only that he knows how to answer this angel’s questions, so the questioning is limited, and his hearing and capacity are very limited.
There is a hadith that must be mentioned on this occasion that when the people depart from the deceased,
Indeed, he إنه
— he (peace be upon him) said:
he hears the stepping sound of their shoes إنه لَيسمع قرع نعالهم
Sunan Abi Dawud 3231Sahih (Al-Albani)
, the striking of the sandals, he does not hear their speech, the striking of the sandals which has what? A known semantic implication, and they are turning away from him.
This is a hadith in "Sahih al-Bukhari," but this does not mean that he has awareness and understanding, just as He said about the polytheists, what did our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) say? Yes,
Indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they have turned their backs retreating. إِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتَى وَلَا تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ الدُّعَاءَ إِذَا وَلَّوْا مُدْبِرِينَ
[An-Naml 27:80]
, the intended meaning here by the dead are the living polytheists, He likened them to the dead in that the dead do not hear, so they are more astonishing, they are alive and yet they do not hear.

The questioner : They do not respond.

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : They do not respond.

The Shaykh : They do not respond, yes.
