His saying (peace and blessings be upon him): “Or a burn from fire, and I do not like cauterization.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third point regarding this hadith: a burn or
A burn from fire
which is cauterization. Treating illness with cauterization is also an ancient practice known among the Arabs, and perhaps among others. However, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) followed this last clause, which explains that the burn from cauterization is among the best means by which people have treated their illnesses, with his saying:
But I do not like cauterization
. As for the fact that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I do not like cauterization
, the reason is clear. It involves torment by fire, and torment by fire is naturally a disliked matter in one respect. In another respect, it reminds one of the punishment of the Fire, and none but the Lord of the Fire torments with fire.
Perhaps this is the reason why the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned among the characteristics of the seventy thousand who enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment that they do not undergo cauterization. It was reported in “Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim” that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Seventy thousand people of my followers will enter Paradise without accounts
Sahih al-Bukhari 6472
. He (peace be upon him) said this and then entered his chamber. The people began to speculate and conjecture about these seventy thousand who enter Paradise without reckoning, whose faces are like the full moon on the night of its fullness. Who are they? Some said: “They are the Muhajireen who migrated from Makkah to al-Madinah in the cause of Allah.” Others said: “They are the Ansar who supported the Messenger and gave him refuge.” Still others said: “They are neither these nor those; rather, they are their children who will come after them, believing in the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) without having seen him.” Soon, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to complete the hadith for them. He said:
They are those who do not use charms nor cauterise themselves nor seek omens and who rely on their Lord.
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 911
. A man from among the Companions, whose name was Ukashah or Ukkashah (with the shaddah or without), stood up and said: “O Messenger of Allah, call upon Allah to make me one of them.” He said:
You are among them.
. Another man stood up and said what Ukkashah had said: “Call upon Allah to make me one of them.” He said:
Ukkashah preceded you with it
. This became a saying of the Messenger (peace be upon him),
Ukkashah preceded you with it
.
The point is: Among the characteristics of the seventy thousand who enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment, whose faces are like the full moon on the night of its fullness, is that they do not undergo cauterization. Why? Because it is a burn from fire, and we seek refuge in Allah from the Fire; the Fire of this world and the Fire of the Hereafter.
This is sufficient.
