Are the dhikr after the obligatory prayers a recommended practice or obligatory?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The dhikr after the obligatory prayer, are they a recommended practice or obligatory? The tasbih or the seeking of refuge, is there a detailed explanation regarding this topic?

The Shaykh : I do not have a detailed explanation at hand, but generally speaking, it is a recommended practice, and some of it is more emphasized than other parts. As for saying that some of it is obligatory or some of it is a recommended practice, I do not have a complete recollection of it right now, but if a person gathers his mind or exerts his thought, he may be able to bring something to mind.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : For example, the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to Mu'adh ibn Jabal:
O Mu'adh, I love you, O Mu'adh, I love you, O Mu'adh, I love you; so do not cease to say after every prayer: O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner.
. So this prohibition, with its emphasis by the shaddah on the nun, indicates that this, if it is not obligatory, is close to being obligatory.
Do not cease to say after every prayer: O Allah, help me to remember You, give thanks to You, and worship You in the best manner. لا تدعنَّ أن تقول دبر كل صلاة : اللهم أعنِّي على ذكرك وشكرك وحسن عبادتك
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2:423
.
Your left hand?! May Allah guide you...

The questioner : Our Shaykh, I once asked you about the fact that there is a command from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in the form of a command to say takbir after an obligatory prayer thirty-three times, tasbih like this, and alhamdulillah like this? You told me: this form, in the form of a command, indicates this.

The Shaykh : Yes, but the issue, meaning to decide on the topic, requires a specific study; in other words, for example, it may be that the way of the believers is that they do not understand that this command indicates obligation.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Therefore, I said what I said at the beginning of the speech; that the issue requires recollection and requires review.
