Warning that religious innovations are not among minor matters, and refuting the classification of innovations into good and bad.

The Shaykh : I do not wish to be lengthy on this, but I remind you of a very important matter that the majority of Muslims have long been heedless of, even some of our brothers who walk with us on the straight path and in avoiding worshipping Allah (Mighty and Majestic) through any religious innovation. It may be hidden from them that any religious innovation by which a Muslim worships his Lord (Mighty and Majestic) is not among minor matters. From this, we believe that classifying religious innovation into forbidden and disliked—meaning disliked by way of recommendation—this classification has no basis in the Islamic Shari'ah. How can it be, when it clearly contradicts the hadith that you hear constantly and forever ? There is no religious innovation whose practitioner does not deserve the Fire. If that classification were valid, the answer would be: not every religious innovation makes its practitioner deserve to enter the Fire. Why? Because that classification makes a forbidden religious innovation the one that qualifies its practitioner for the Fire, and a religious innovation disliked by way of recommendation does not qualify its practitioner for the Fire, but rather it is recommended to leave it and turn away from it.
