General advice for the mujahideen in Afghanistan, and specific advice for the Salafis.

The Shaykh : And my greetings and my previous advice to our mujahideen brothers there in general, and to our Salafi brothers who are keen on calling people to the Book and the Sunnah: that they should uphold the Book and the Sunnah wherever they are, and that they should call people to it, and that they should be gentle in their calling with them, because of what they know of His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He) to the master of all the prophets: [Ali 'Imran 3:159], and His saying (Mighty and Majestic): [An-Nahl 16:125]. And if they see people who are Sufis, or from the later generations, or followers of a school of jurisprudence, they should not be harsh with them, nor severe with them, but rather they should be gentle with them. They are in need of gentleness and softness with them more than severity. And let one of us remember that he was like them at one time, when he was misguided and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) guided him; so he should have mercy on these misguided people and not be harsh with them, and he should help them toward guidance through speech, calling, and supplication. And my greetings to them all.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
The Shaykh : And welcome.
The questioner : Welcome.
The Shaykh : Oh God.
And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you.
