General advice for the mujahideen in Afghanistan, and specific advice for the Salafis.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : My greetings and my previous advice to our mujahideen brothers there in general, and to our Salafi brothers who are keen on calling people to the Book and the Sunnah, is that they should uphold the Book and the Sunnah wherever they are, and call people to them. They should be gentle in their calling with them, given what is known of the saying of Allah the Exalted to the master of all prophets:
And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. ولو كنت فظا غليظ القلب لانفضوا من حولك
[Ali 'Imran 3:159]
and His saying, Mighty and Majestic:
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best ادع إلى سبيل ربك بالحكمة والموعظة الحسنة وجادلهم بالتي هي أحسن
[An-Nahl 16:125]
If they see people who are Sufis, or from the later generations, or followers of a school of jurisprudence, they should not be harsh with them or severe toward them, but rather be gentle with them. They are in greater need of gentleness and kindness than of severity. Let one of us remember that he was like them one day; he was astray, and then Allah the Exalted guided him. So he should have mercy on these astray people and not be harsh with them, and he should help them toward guidance through speech, calling, and supplication. My greetings to them all.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Welcome.

The questioner : May Allah greet you.

The Shaykh : Oh Allah.
