The Shaykh’s warning to the Salafis and, in particular, the da'wah workers among them, cautioning them against falling into the violation of the second condition, which is sincerity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... And from the jurisprudential principle established by the Messenger (peace be upon him) in his saying:
every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam)
; this condition is one that most people are heedless of. As for those whom Allah has blessed with following the Sunnah and being guided by the guidance of the Master of the Ummah (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him), these are the ones who know the reality of this condition and adhere to it as much as they are able. So they must be alert to the second condition, from which no one is safe from falling short, neither these nor those, except whom Allah wills, and they are few. That is to say, no one is exempt from showing off in worship (riya'), neither a Salafi nor a Khalafi. All people are exposed to showing off in their righteous deeds, and the matter in this is serious and very serious. Therefore, I wished to remind you on this occasion and on other occasions to make your deeds righteous and pure for the Face of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
Among the things we are afflicted with is this, and affliction is not only with evil; it can also be with good.
And We test you with evil and with good as trial
[Al-Anbya 21:35]
. We are currently afflicted with the call to the Book and the Sunnah, this call which the masses of Muslims in the east and west of the earth have been heedless of, until these da'wah workers have truly become strangers. Not only in foreign lands, but in their own homeland they are strangers; among their colleagues, indeed, they are strangers among their relatives, among their brothers. And this is what they are praised for. They should not seek praise for their call, but this is the reality; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
Islam began as something strange and will go back to being strange, so glad tidings to the strangers.
Sunan Ibn Majah 3987Hasan (Darussalam)
. "Taba" is praise and commendation for these strangers. In colloquial expression, it is "their attainment," and in the legal meaning:
Taba is a tree in Paradise under which a traveler walks for a hundred years without passing it
. So it is as if this hadith congratulates the strangers on Paradise, in which is what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what has not occurred to the heart of any human being. Among its features is this tree mentioned in the Qur'an: so
Blessed are they, and good is their return
.
For whom is this "Taba"? For the strangers. Who are they? The explanation came from the words of the Messenger (peace be upon him):
who correct what the people have corrupted from my Sunnah after me
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2630Da'if (Darussalam)
. These strangers who revive the Sunnah and call to reviving the Sunnah and killing off what contradicts it of religious innovation (bid'ah) must observe the second condition in righteous work; that they be among the sincere in this call, not seeking behind it fame, boasting, argumentation, or anything that pleases the soul that commands evil. Rather, they call because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commanded the call to the Book and the Sunnah, and they call to what the masses of Muslims have been heedless of, so it is right for them to concern themselves with this call. But they are in danger when the soul of one of these da'wah workers to following the Book and the Sunnah whispers to him to speak words seeking only to be pointed out with the finger, not seeking to advise people, guide them, or teach them, but only fame. Here comes a word from some of the Sufis, and they have wisdoms that cannot be denied, which is their saying: "Love of fame cuts off fame." And this is a reality. Therefore, I insist on this second condition for us, the da'wah workers to the Sunnah, that we be sincere in our deeds, so that when our deed enters with us, it becomes a helper and aid for a good answer if we are asked: Who is your Lord? Who is your Prophet? What is your religion? And it illuminates for us the darkness that surrounds us in our graves, and so on.
But if it is a bad deed, the opposite is the opposite. It disowns its doer when he descends into his grave. It comes to him in the ugliest form and asks him: Who are you? He says: I am your deed; meaning your bad deed. And the opposite is the opposite. And we do not elaborate more than this. The point is that the deed that should enter with us when we leave our families and our wealth is the righteous deed with two conditions: conformity to the Book and the Sunnah, and that it be pure for the Face of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).

The questioner : You have been generous in explaining that religious innovation (bid'ah) means ... I think that many of the young people do not understand this meaning ...

The Shaykh : Make it a question at the end of the lesson.
