Some of the Christians say: "Allah is the third of three," and Allah says in the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: Some of the Christians say: "The third of three," and our Lord—Glorified and Exalted is He—says, meaning in the Book:
And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God وَلَا تَقُولُوا ثَلَاثَةٌ انْتَهُوا خَيْرًا لَكُمْ إِنَّمَا اللَّهُ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ
[An-Nisa 4:171]
We gave them this verse; did they become convinced? If they did not become convinced, is there another piece of evidence we can give them, or should we leave them to their own devices?

The Shaykh: If they are not convinced by the statement of the Lord of the Worlds, by the statement of whom will they be convinced?

The questioner: They will not be convinced.

The Shaykh: By the statement of whom will they be convinced?

The questioner: They will not be convinced.

The Shaykh: Then they are disbelievers.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh :
They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the third of three." لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلَاثَةٍ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:73]
.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh :
And there is no god but the One God وَمَا مِنْ إِلَهٍ إِلَّا إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ
.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: If they are not convinced by the speech of Allah—Mighty and Majestic—they will not be convinced by the speech of the servants of Allah—Mighty and Majestic.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: And the problem with these people is that they disbelieved in the Messenger of Allah.

The questioner : (Peace and blessings be upon him).

The Shaykh: The one who, by the explicit text of the Noble Qur'an and the authentic hadiths, was sent as a mercy to the worlds. It was incumbent upon them to study the life of the Messenger—peace be upon him—and how Allah saved the Arabs in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance from darkness to light, and from misguidance to guidance. But they turned away from studying the Messenger—peace be upon him—and his life, and the reform he effected among his people, and they sat clinging to the Torah and the Gospel, which time has devoured and consumed.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Do not debate these people as long as they have not believed in such an explicit verse.
Is there anything else?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : ... .

Another questioner: The messengers are the most perfect in the oneness of Allah.

The Shaykh: All right.

The questioner: And the most perfect of the messengers in the oneness of Allah are the men of resolve, and the most perfect...

The Shaykh: We do not have the details for that; get to the question.
