Mentioning some of the doubts of the deniers of the divine attributes and the refutation thereof, including His saying - the Exalted - : (( And He is with you wherever you are ))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Among these doubts is the aforementioned verse:
and He is with you wherever you are
[Al-Hadid 57:4]
. It must be known that this verse is like His saying - Blessed and Exalted is He - to Musa and Harun:
Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.
[Taha 20:46]
. The verse contains an explanation of the companionship mentioned in it:
Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.
[Taha 20:46]
meaning: in knowledge and sight. The meaning of the verse is not:
Indeed, I am with you إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا
meaning that He mixes with you like Harun with Musa, or Musa with Harun. If the Lord of the worlds were like that, His speech and address to them would be a tautology; if Allah were with the servants, meaning He mixes with them and is intermingled with them constantly and forever, then Allah's saying to them:
Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.
[Taha 20:46]
would be a tautology; because if the matter were as the deniers of the divine attributes say, that Allah is in every place, then wherever Musa and Harun were, Allah would be with them. So what is the meaning of our Lord - Mighty and Majestic - saying to Musa and Harun
Indeed, I am with you إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا
if He is with them constantly and forever? No, this is a companionship of an attribute, not a companionship of essence,
Indeed, I am with you إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا
with the attribute of hearing and seeing.
Likewise:
Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.
[An-Nahl 16:128]
This is also a companionship - a companionship of an attribute - with those who fear Allah, in the form of assistance, support, success, and the like of attributes that befit only the believers.
There is a general companionship,
Indeed, I am with you إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا
and a specific companionship
I hear and I see أَسْمَعُ وَأَرَى
,
Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.
[An-Nahl 16:128]
a specific companionship - also - for the righteous and the doers of good. And there is a general companionship, which is what the aforementioned verse conveys:
and He is with you wherever you are
[Al-Hadid 57:4]
; meaning: He is with you by His knowledge. This is how the scholars of the Salaf - may Allah be pleased with them - interpreted the verse:
And He is with you وَهُوَ مَعَكُمْ
by His knowledge,
Where are those أَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ
[Al-A'raf 7:37]
its interpretation is in the verse: "Nothing is hidden from Him on earth or in the heaven."
