Explaining that denying the elevation of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) is the nature of the atheists, both in the past and the present, and mentioning some of the evidence for His (Glorified and Exalted is He) elevation
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: And we find that denying the superiority is the nature of the atheists, both in the past and the present. So listen, for example, to the words of Pharaoh when he said to his minister Haman: [Ghafir 40:36-37] Moses (peace be upon him) is lying. He wants to deceive him with a material proof, to delude his followers who deified him besides Allah (the Exalted), by building a towering, high, and extended palace like this in the sky. What does this towering, high building mean? He said: [Ghafir 40:36-37] The one who says, what does Moses say? That Allah is above, [Ghafir 40:37] , I will build this towering, high structure, and then I will not find the god to whom Moses calls you to worship besides me. Pharaoh says this.
So this verse contains the affirmation of a truth, which is tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and the existence of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and the affirmation of the one who denied this truth. This verse affirms that the prophets and messengers, led by Moses (peace be upon him), affirmed for Allah the attribute of superiority and the attribute of elevation and exaltation above His Throne, and that he called Pharaoh and his army to believe in this God described with the attribute of superiority. So Moses denied him by saying:[Ghafir 40:37] . And in the verse is the affirmation that the one who denies this attribute, the attribute of superiority, is an atheist just like Pharaoh. This verse is among those verses that affirm this attribute, and we must be mindful of this verse when we recite it, so that we understand that it contains the affirmation of this attribute and a refutation of Pharaoh who denied it in his response to Moses and his people: [Ghafir 40:37] .
Likewise, there is a verse:[Fatir 35:10] ; so Allah has the attribute of elevation; and therefore the righteous deed is raised to Him.
Likewise—and this is one of the wonders of matters—He (the Exalted) said:[Al-Ma'arij 70:4] , so the angels ascend; does the meaning of ascending mean descending or rising? Rising. They ascend to whom? To Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), presenting to Him what they recorded of the deeds of man on earth. And the most cunning of all this is that all Muslims believe that Allah ascended with His Prophet to the highest heavens. To whom did He ascend?
These people who wasted themselves, who wasted their Lord and thus wasted themselves, affirm truths and deny truths. They affirm this truth and celebrate it every year that Allah ascended with His Prophet to Him. Otherwise, if Allah does not have the attribute of elevation, to whom did the Messenger (peace be upon him) ascend? If, as they imagine, Allah is present in every place, then the Prophet’s ascent was not an ascent to Allah, because Allah is with us in every place. And the discussion will come, in any case, regarding His (the Exalted) saying:[Al-Hadid 57:4] .
So when ta'wil (figurative interpretation) enters, these truths are nullified from the minds of people and vanish, and their affair becomes that they deny what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) affirmed in His Book and what His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained in the hadith.
So let us mention, for example, from the hadiths of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and this is a hadith that people also frequently recite and narrate on many occasions, as they mention the Night Journey and the Ascension, and then they never realize that it contains the affirmation of the attribute of superiority for Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Who among us does not know the saying of people today:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1924Hasan (Darussalam) , Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1924Hasan (Darussalam) Here, then, there are two opposing things, or one thing opposite to another, so something is on earth and something is in the sky, Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1924Hasan (Darussalam) , who are those on earth? From what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created: Sunan Abi Dawud 4941Sahih (Al-Albani) Who is the one in the sky? Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
They also deny this which they recite morning and evening, night and day: Allah is in the sky. And this is not limited to the hadith; in the Noble Qur'an, in the Surah of Tabaarak which it is recommended to read before sleeping:[Al-Mulk 67:16-17] ; so Allah is in the sky; so how can it be said: Allah is in every place?
construct for me a tower that I might reach the ways - (37) The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar.
ابْنِ لِي صَرْحًا لَعَلِّي أَبْلُغُ الْأَسْبَابَ * أَسْبَابَ السَّمَاوَاتِ فَأَطَّلِعَ إِلَى إِلَهِ مُوسَى وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّهُ كَاذِبًاthat I might reach the ways - (37) The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses

So this verse contains the affirmation of a truth, which is tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and the existence of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and the affirmation of the one who denied this truth. Likewise, there is a verse:
To Him ascends good speech, and righteous work raises it
Likewise—and this is one of the wonders of matters—He (the Exalted) said:
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.
These people who wasted themselves, who wasted their Lord and thus wasted themselves, affirm truths and deny truths. and He is with you wherever you are
So when ta'wil (figurative interpretation) enters, these truths are nullified from the minds of people and vanish, and their affair becomes that they deny what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) affirmed in His Book and what His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained in the hadith.

Be merciful on the earth, and you will be shown mercy from Who is above the heavens.
Be merciful on the earth
Be merciful on the earth
He Who is in the heaven will show mercy to you

(16) Do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not cause the earth to swallow you and suddenly it would sway? (17) Or do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not send against you a storm of stones? Then you would know how [severe] was My warning.
