Explaining the importance of refuting religious innovations and their proponents.

Eid Abbasi : These are three important foundations of the Salafi call, and there are other matters that characterize it, among its principles and focal points, which can be negative in nature; they are warning against the matters of religious innovation and the newly invented matters that have entered the religion, distorting its beauty, muddying its purity, and clouding the beauty and cleanness it possessed. These newly invented matters entered the religion, changing Allah’s ruling and misleading the people. Therefore, the Salafis focus on alerting people to them and warning them against them. Following [the Sunnah] is not an easy matter; it is not as is said in this issue that it is a minor branch matter, asking, “What is in it? An increase in good is good!”
Because the reality of religious innovation is that it is a correction of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that it is legislation by opinion and intellect. This matter is said to be an act of worship and a means of drawing near to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). What is the basis for that? It is nothing but opinion and juristic preference, and it abrogates the verse: from its foundation, and other verses besides it. Although the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) warned us against religious innovations many times, and said (peace and blessings be upon him): , and he placed it in the sermon of necessity that he would repeat every week in the Friday sermon and in other gatherings; all of this is to emphasize and remind of the danger of religious innovations and the importance of adhering to what came to us from Allah and His Messenger. And yet, these later generations deafened their ears to these clear hadiths and the clear texts of the Book, and they persisted in religious innovations and increased in them.
