The Shaykh : As for his last will, it is a specific will that does not extend to others, and it is his saying: "And when I die, bury me in a land that Bakr ibn Wail will not be aware of my burial; for I used to deceive them in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance." In the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, they were, as we all know, tribes, as some poets said:
"They kill one another unjustly *** And fear no blame or sin."
Then this man embraced Islam, and naturally his Islam was good, but he feared that the pre-Islamic age of ignorance spirit might flare up in some of those he had deceived in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, and from whom he had killed, and Islam wipes out what came before it. So he feared that if he were buried in a place, Bakr ibn Wail—meaning some of their individuals—would become aware, come, and dig up his grave. So he willed that they bury him in a land that the Banu Bakr ibn Wail would not know; because they had a blood feud with him in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. Their blood feud with him might be to dig up his grave, and this is not permissible in an Islamic person.
This is the last will that Qays ibn 'Asim willed to his children, may Allah have mercy on him, and may we take these wills of his as an example and act upon them.
And this is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
