The Shaykh : ... and we seek His forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own souls and from the badness of our deeds. Whoever Allah guides, no one can mislead, and whoever He leaves to mislead, no one can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger, [Ali 'Imran 3:102], [An-Nisa 4:1], [Al-Ahzab 33:70-71]. As for what follows:
Indeed, the best of speech is the speech of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire. And after that:
We are still at the beginning of the "Chapter on Encouraging the Sending Off of the Dead and Attending Their Burial," and we had read the first hadiths of it in the previous lesson, so let us continue with the remaining hadiths of this chapter.
The fourth hadith is the first of this lesson, as for the one before it, we passed over it due to its weakness. The fourth hadith is his saying:
From Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:1087 It was narrated by Ibn Hibban in his "Sahih."
This hadith, like the previous hadiths in this chapter, was covered in some of the older lessons, and we discussed it there; so we have no need to repeat the discussion on it. The following hadith is the same, so we will remind you of it, then we will move on to the hadith after it. He said:
And from him—meaning Abu Sa'id al-Khudri—he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Ibn Hibban 11:65 It was narrated by Ahmad, al-Bazzar, and Ibn Hibban in his "Sahih," and it, along with others, was mentioned earlier in the section on visiting the sick.
But I will remind you here of something brief; it is his saying (peace be upon him) in this hadith: The author followed it with the next hadith from Abu Hurayrah, which clarifies this part of Abu Sa'id's hadith, namely his saying (peace be upon him): This clarifies, in that it explains the following hadith: that following the funerals takes place in two stages; the first is from the house to the mosque or the prayer place to pray over it, and the second stage, which is also more complete, is following the sending off of the funeral after the prayer over it until attending its burial. So the following hadith clarifies the difference in reward and virtue between the first stage and the second stage, as you will hear clearly.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
From Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
Five things, if a person does them in one day, Allah records him among the people of Paradise: visiting a sick person, attending a funeral, fasting one day, going to the Friday prayer, and freeing a slave
This hadith, like the previous hadiths in this chapter, was covered in some of the older lessons, and we discussed it there; so we have no need to repeat the discussion on it. And from him—meaning Abu Sa'id al-Khudri—he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Visit the sick and follow the funerals; they remind you of the Hereafter
But I will remind you here of something brief; it is his saying (peace be upon him) in this hadith:
Follow the funerals.
Follow the funerals.
