A discussion on the importance of purifying the Sunnah.

The Shaykh : ... the Fire, if that is contradicted, then refuge is sought in Allah. We do not mean by purifying the Sunnah that we stop at this; rather, we say that the foundation of all the purifications that are necessary for the Muslim community to return to its purified religion, free from all foreign elements, is the purification of the Sunnah. After this purification, or along with this purification, if possible, it is necessary to also turn to the purification of the principles of jurisprudence and the principles of hadith, to the extent that this is possible, which we believe is a matter with no harm. Therefore, we call for purification in the broadest sense. But where do we begin? We begin with the purification of the second of the foundations of the Shari'ah, which is the hadith and the Sunnah.
